India International Science Festival

India International Science Festival is organized annually by Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India. The 1st IISF was held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) New Delhi in December, 2015. The mega S&T expo attracted more than 3 Lakh people.

The 2nd IISF was held at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi in December, 2016 with a view to improve their scientific understanding, temperament and appreciation for various feats in science & technology by showcasing Indian achievements. The 3rd series of IISF was held from 13-16 October 2017, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. 4th Edition of IISF 2018 is being organized by Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences in association with Vijnana Bharati at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow during 5-8 October, 2018.

 

Record attempts have been a key part of IISF since 2015, thus encouraging science popularisation through public participation. In IISF 2015, students took a successful shot for the globally ‘Largest Science Lesson’ at IIT Delhi. In IISF 2016, a group of 550 students attempted the world record for ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Nobel Prize-winning scientist Albert Einstein’. In IISF 2017, witnessed ‘Largest Biology Lesson’ wherein 1049 class 9 & 10 students, gathered at Chennai. This time in 4th Edition at IISF2018 Lucknow, witnessed another successful record for ‘Most Participants Conducting a DNA Isolation Experiment’ with 550 participation breaking previous record of 302 participants.
